Belgium to France

The Hondschoote Town Hall was originally built in 1558 when it was a wealthy cloth-town harvesting its own flax and part of Spanish Flanders. The French invaded, burned and looted the town and many clothmakers fled to Belgium and England. The expo inside had displays tracing the history of the city, including the Battle of Hondschoote
